As we begin 2016, the CMMA Board of Directors is pleased
to announce that Harry Leaver has been
hired as Director of CMMA. We know
that his experience will help us to take CMMA to the next level in serving our
manufacturing membership, helping to make them more successful and advancing
manufacturing in general in our community.
Mr. Leaver was the Executive Director of the Michigan Manufacturing
Technology Center which operates in collaboration with Saginaw Valley State
University. Prior to that, he ran a
number of manufacturing facilities, among them Cross Company and Ingersoll CM
Systems. His roots and his heart lie in
Director Leaver has been given a tall order! Some of the tasks on his plate include
increasing membership; marketing regional manufacturing to our community—to families
and youth, in particular, to promote career options in our area; educational
collaboration curriculum with educational organizations, including MMCC, RESD
and The Morey Foundation; improving our
website; putting out a quarterly newsletter; continuing our collaborative
training activities with MMCC, MMTC and manufacturing member companies; and
enhancing member services, such as informational presentations, coordinated
purchases of services to help reduce costs, and employee training; and facilitation of a collective voice in
influencing issues impacting manufacturers.
We plan to keep Mr. Leaver very busy!
This move would not be possible without the support of
The Morey Foundation and Mid Michigan Community College. The Morey Foundation has made a grant to
assist in securing a director dedicated to promoting the CMMA, and MMCC is
providing the office space, as well as technical and administrative support for
Mr. Leaver. We are very grateful and
look forward to cultivating this mutually beneficial relationship with The
Morey Foundation and MMCC.
